Pete Alex Kotarides is a partner in Kotarides Builders, an authentic family-owned company that has been building homes since 1963. His father, Alex, and his uncle, Odysseus Kotarides, started the business and have since built thousands of homes in Tidewater, Virginia, where the company is located.
As time went by, Alex brought two sons, Pete A. and Petro, into the business and Odysseus brought Pete O. and Basil into the business as partners. When asked how this works, Pete A. said, “One of the great joys of my life is having the opportunity to work together with them. Not only do I get to work at a job I love, but I get to do it with partners who are my best friends.”
Kotarides Builders has a wonderful reputation, and they have participated in many community events including Warrington Hall and the building of the Charity House to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Virginia. They also built the 2007 Scholarship House to benefit the TBA Scholarship Foundation.
The Kotarides family’s strict adherence and commitment to excellence has given them a reputation for quality, value, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction. The thousands of homes and award-winning neighborhoods they’ve created are testimony to this ongoing commitment.
Kotarides Builders is a construction company that specializes in multifamily residential contracting and construction management. It creates value for its customers by focusing on quality and cost control, especially during the design and specification phases, where careful attention to detail can have a tremendous impact on the success of the project. They also are involved in building retail and office buildings, and hold Virginia and North Carolina general contractors licenses.
Pete A. started working for the company at age 12. His job, since there were no nail guns in those days, was to pick up nails for $5 a day. Today at age 38, Pete is extremely active in the building industry. He is the immediate past president of the Tidewater Builders Association (TBA) and serves on the Board of Directors of both the National Association of Home Builders (Washington, D.C.) and Home Builders Association of Virginia (Richmond VA). Kotarides also served as president of the Building Industry Insurance Association of Virginia and as vice chair of both the TBA Nominating Committee and the TBA Political Action Committee.
